About canvasRus, UK's leading digital printer
For years CanvasRus have always used high quality artist’s canvas which has been treated with a stabilising solution, offering protection against minor bumps and scuffs.
However, as our parent company, Portobello Art Ltd, is the UK’s largest bespoke digital printer supplying decorative wall art to the interior design, hotel and leisure industries worldwide, we have been searching for something more resilient as naturally hotels and restaurants want pictures offering the lowest possible maintenance with easy clean surfaces that can be wiped down with damp cloth.
Finally we have found a solution in a new heavy duty laminate finish. Our new laminator machine arrived earlier this month (January 2009) so this will now be applied to all our products in a semi satin finish, which not only gives a reasonably waterproof and scuff proof finish, but lifts the colours and will considerably brighten up all photo canvases.
So you can now wipe away the dust with a damp rag without fear of damaging your precious canvas.

Welcome to canvasRus, the UK’s leading digital printer of canvas prints. We specialise in turning your own photos or original artwork into beautiful canvas prints. Our parent company, Portobello Art, was established in 1987, so we've been in the art, print and framing trade for over 20 years! We started digital printing over 10 years ago and probably began the trend of canvas pictures by supplying the likes of Asda & Costco. About seven years ago many consumers started contacting Portobello Art, our trade company, wanting a single canvas picture or to put their photo onto canvas.
Hence canvasRus! The website was launched in March 2004 and was probably one of the first digital printing companies to offer this service to the retail public.
Since our launch six years ago, the company has nearly trebled in size.

There are, however, a lot of other companies now ‘jumping on the bandwagon’ claiming to be the biggest and the best.

- We print 200-300 pictures a day (not a week!)
- We fulfil over 200 individual orders a week
- 30% of orders are from returning customers

We only use high quality artist’s canvas which is now fully laminated to provide a reasonably waterproof and scuff proof finish.
We only use original light fast UV inks which have a 25 year life expectancy.

All our canvases are stretched by hand on 50mm deep kiln dried solid wood stretchers
